Indie Candy-Naturally Allergen Free and Gluten Free
Indie Candy specializes in gourmet candies that are naturally allergen free. They create their own confections in-house as well as carrying the best of the allergen free candies curently on the market, particularly those from independent makers. The owner of Indie Candy has a serious gluten intolerance and an intolerance to milk and soy and she has a child with multiple food allergies/sensitivities. That means she strives to create the most delicious products available because she and her family are the ones are eating them!
All of their products are free of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. A 2007 study in the Lancet showed that certain food dyes can create a hyperactive response in otherwise normal children. That study and others prompted the EU and most other industrialized nations to require food companies to eliminate certain food dyes from the food supply. They take it one step further and make delicious and beautiful candy only with fruit, vegetable and spice extracts instead of artificial colors and flavors.

Luckily my children and I do not have any food intolerance. We do know several children that do, and it is a constant worry for the parents especially during class parties. This website is very informative for someone with food allergies. For example, the Dairy Free Chocolate Teddy Bear. The information listed below for this candy is as follows:
GFCFSF
Vegan
Organic
Big 8 Allergen free
No Artificials
FG1

Now, since I do not have food allergies, I had to look a few of these up to see what they meant, but a person with food allergies would instantly know if they would be able to have this candy. FYI, the Big 8 is peanuts, tree nuts such as walnuts and pecans, milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, wheat and soy. So again, I found the information very informative that was below the candy. But again, I don't have food allergies, so taste was my primary concern. Let me tell you that this candy is delicious. I received several samples, but immediately tried the dark chocolate bunny. It was excellent. I was a little afraid with all this talk of everything being allergy free that it might taste kind of different. It was delicious!! I could have eaten a dozen. Their items are adorable as well. They have brightly colored lollipops in the shape of Easter eggs and carrots!! These will make great additions to the Easter baskets. Of course, anything you order, you will probably eat before it gets to the basket!!
