Take Flight with Red Dog Air Review and Giveaway
Red Dog Air also has a special story behind it. The company and airport set was inspired by the founder’s son who has a passion for airplanes. The founder is a former flight attendant and as a parent, identified a need for toys that incorporate imagination and learning into a fun and relevant play experience.
Red Dog Air, a U.S. manufacturer of handcrafted, heirloom-quality toy airport sets. Red Dog Air’s Original Airport Set™ features a contemporary designed terminal building and vibrant tarmac. The clear acrylic walls and roof provide beauty and function and allow the viewer to see through the building to whatever the mind can imagine. The set includes a portable folding tarmac and runway game board with no assembly required, a hand-made acrylic terminal building, two American Airlines® 767 die-cast airplanes, a hand-made acrylic air traffic control tower, and a two-year family membership to the Red Dog Cockpit™. Red Dog is designed for airplane enthusiasts ages three to 93 and is made for play as well as for collectors.
Play time is an important part of our children's growth and the toys we buy make a difference. There's no shortage of video and computer games being marketed to capture their attention. Today, parents have limited options for toys that truly provide a positive experience. Decades ago toys were simple and well-built. The only requirement was a child's imagination. Today, Red Dog Air is designing toys with these same core principles - simplicity and imagination.
The Original Red Dog Airport Set™ is a pre-assembled folding airport set designed for generations of play; but could equally be displayed in the Smithsonian. Each of these heirloom quality toys includes an 'online' experience to enable the imagination. Accessible from RedDogAir.com's website, the Red Dog Cockpit™ provides configurable controls and dozens of audio messages from real flight operations, air traffic controllers, pilots and flight attendants - helping build a memorable flight experience.
We opened up this box and my three boys were so excited. They love to play with cars, but have not played with any airplanes before. Two of them took a plane and the other one took a helicopter, and they sat there forever flying them and running them down the runway. The boys kept getting on the board itself, and I thought that they were going to tear it up. You have to believe me when I say that this thing is sturdy. It hardly moved as they crawled all over it. To a mom with three small boys, sturdiness is a very important factor, and this passed the test.
The airport set is fairly big, which is nice, and it does fold flat for storage. We slid ours under one of their beds, that way they are able to get it out themselves.
Red Dog Air would like to give one lucky myokcmommy reader an airport set of their own.

June 19th is Father's Day. Have you found your Dad's perfect gift? I know that we did. As I sit here his glass is sitting on a folded up napkin, let me say again, that I know we have the perfect gift!
My husband absolutely loves the Steelers, so we decided to get him these officially licensed NFL photo coasters. These are a great Father's Day gift because these coasters are actually picture frames as well. We have three boys, so I will put a picture of each boy in one of the coasters, and for the other one, I will be corny and put a picture of his boy, Big Ben or Hines Ward in there! I can't imagine why you would want another team, but if for some reason you did, these are also available in Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, and New York Giants!
Thank you to RedEnvelope for my samples used in this review. My opinions are honest and my own.

My husband makes fun of me and says that I am easily distracted, so I had to choose this one! It is super cute and my littlest boy points to the squirrel and tries to say squirrel, so that is also a plus!

NSF International Helps keep grilling fun and safe-Plus Giveaway
NSF International - a nonprofit organization that is committed to protecting public health and safety by developing standards and certifying products against those standards. They would like to share a list of its top tips for grilling. Whether you are novice or a grilling expert, these tips provide sound advice for keeping your grilling fun and safe this summer.
MEMORIAL DAY COOKING & GRILLING TIPS TO REMEMBER
1. Start with a Clean Kitchen: According to a swab analysis by NSF International, the kitchen sponge and kitchen sink were the germiest places in the home – items that are typically used in multiple stages of the cooking and cleaning process. Avoid cross-contamination by ensuring these items are clean by:
a. Placing wet sponges in the microwave for two minutes once per day and replacing them often - every two weeks or more as needed. A better option for kitchen cleaning are dishcloths, towels and rags. These items can be sanitized by washing on the clothes washer's hot water cycle with bleach. Replace every 1-2 days.
b. Washing and disinfecting the sides and bottom of the sink 1-2 times per week with a disinfecting cleaner. Sanitize kitchen drains and disposals monthly by pouring a solution of one teaspoon household bleach in one quart of water down the drain. Wash kitchen sink strainers in the dishwasher weekly.
2. Defrost Foods Safely. Don't attempt to defrost foods quickly by leaving them sit overnight on a kitchen counter. Use one of the following methods:
a. Option I - Place a covered food in a shallow pan on the lowest shelf of the refrigerator.
b. Option II - Defrost the food item in the microwave, but keep in mind that you must finish cooking the food immediately thereafter, as some areas of the food may become warm and begin to cook during the microwave defrosting process.
c. Option III - If there is not enough time to thaw frozen foods, it is safe to cook foods from the frozen state. However, the cooking will take approximately 50% longer than the recommended time for fully thawed or fresh meat and poultry.
3. Practice Proper Marinating. If marinating food, marinate in a refrigerator overnight and dispose of any leftover marinade that has been in contact with raw meat. While acids in marinades can help tenderize meat, too much vinegar or hot sauce can cause meat to be more stringy and tough.
4. Keep Hot Foods Hot and Cold Foods Cold Hot foods need to be kept at temperatures above 140 F and cold foods less than 40 F. Between these two temperatures, bacteria can multiply very rapidly and reach dangerous levels in as little as two hours.
5. Don’t cook with your eyes; Cook with a thermometer. In order to ensure food has reached a safe internal temperature, always use a certified food thermometer. Any leftovers should be put away within two hours (one hour if the temperature is over 90° F).
6. Avoid Cross Contamination. Since bacteria can easily spread from one food to the next via dripping juices, hands, or utensils, think ahead to avoid cross contamination. Don't use the same utensils and plates for raw and cooked foods, and always remember to wash your hands before preparing and consuming food.
These tips are so important, but yet I know so many people who let them fly out the window. I am slightly germophobic, so I do not use sponges. My best tip here is to use a wash cloths to wash the dishes, and use it once and then wash it. I like to add a little baking soda to the wash to liven up the scent because sometimes wet wash clothes do have a funky smell. Defrosting foods is another one that I know so many people do improperly. My husband's family takes the meat out of the freezer and just lets it sit out on the counter all day. The suggestions that NSF International suggests are quicker anyways. I have a hard time deciding if meat is done. I use this method. "Hey Honey, come check this and tell me if its done." He doesn't like this method. Perhaps the thermometer would be a better and more accurate approach!
I do know that there is going to be a lot of grilling going on, so use the NSF International tips to keep grilling safe. They would also like to give one of my reader's a prize package including:
